The Nigeria Labour Congress has directed its members, affiliate unions, and civil society partners to prepare for the scheduled planned nationwide protests of January 27 and February 1, 2022.
The NLC reiterated that the protest was to fight against the proposed removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

The congress also asked its affiliates nationwide to mobilise their members for the rallies and ensure total compliance with the nationwide protests.
This followed the resolution made at the meeting with leaders of civil society organisations presided over by the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, at the Labour House, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
A member of the Central Working Committee, who preferred anonymity, said the presidents and general secretaries of the affiliate unions pledged to mobilise their members for the protests.
The labour leader said, “We have been asked to go and mobilise our members across the country ahead of the planned protests for January 27.
“Every union has been asked to mobilise as many members as possible for the protests so that it will be very outstanding. Mammoth crowd is what we need for the planned protests.
“Every union president and general secretary pledged their support for the planned protests.
“The CSOs are working together with labour. The CSOs we have been working with are with us in the January 27 planned protests.”
He said the organised labour would not allow the proposed fuel subsidy removal to stand, adding that “if it happens, it will be very disastrous for all of us in this country.”
The Federal Government last year announced a plan to remove fuel subsidies by the first quarter of this year.

Debo Adedayo, Nigerian comedian better known as Mr Macaroni, has called out the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after its officials were seen assaulting a comedian in a viral video.
In the short clip, the victim, an Instagram comedian known as D-General, appeared to be challenging the NDLEA officials for invading his house while also filming the incident.

But one of the officials had asked him to stop the video, claiming the comedian had no right to film them.
The man, however, insisted on filming the incident, a development which made the NDLEA officials to attack the man.
In a video of the incident shared on Twitter, Adedayo said it is unfortunate that the NDLEA now enters people's home to harrass and oppress them.
He wrote, "NDLEA!!! OLEEE!!! Barawoooo!!!! So you people’s work is to be entering people’s houses in the middle of the night to be beating and harassing citizens. This is happening right now. We don’t know where they have taken him to. Oppressors everywhere!!!"
