The Boko Haram terrorists and their Islamic State West African Province faction have released the pictures of two soldiers and a Yobe State liaison officer they abducted on the Damaturu/Maiduguri highway on Saturday.

In the display of their Identification cards, two of the cards belonged to Mai Lalle, one for Mustapha while the fourth one belongs to Lance Corporal Oyediran Adedotun of the Nigerian Army.

The ID card of the fourth abductee was not sighted from the list of the cards provided by the insurgents.

According to Nation, the four victims were abducted on Saturday along Maiduguri/Damaturu highway.

While Mai Lalle and Mustapaha were travelling to Maiduguri, the two army personnel were, however, travelling to Kano State on a pass permit.

Though the pictures of the victims have been released, no contact has been made with their families yet.

[GIST] Resign With Immediate Effect; Blood Flowing In Nigeria – Sheikh Gumi Slams Buhari

[GIST] Resign With Immediate Effect; Blood Flowing In Nigeria – Sheikh Gumi Slams Buhari

Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign over his inability to secure the country from criminals, which makes the blood of innocent lives to flow in the country.

Gumi added that the same advice he gave the erstwhile president, Goodluck Jonathan, would be given to his “own brother” who appeared to be less democratic even than Jonathan.

The Islamic scholar made these revelations as he addressed a Muslim gathering as seen in a video by SaharaReporters on Tuesday.

Gumi said, “During the Jonathan era when blood was flowing, I criticised him because he was not doing enough. Why I blamed Jonathan with blood in his hands was because Boko Haram were putting bombs everywhere and the government was not doing enough.

“Because they killed under your regime, you’re responsible for that matter, if you have done your best, I can say Allah can forgive you, but if you are relaxed, no Allah cannot forgive you.

“So, the same thing now; the bloodshed now is more than the bloodshed during Jonathan's regime. So, now, you judge yourself to be fair. Our religion is a religion of fairness. We are fair to ourselves. During Jonathan, when blood was flowing in churches, mosques, and streets, I said let him resign because he could not control it. He could not handle it. I said resign with immediate effect.

“When people are dying everywhere, and the President and governors are attending wedding ceremonies. That’s what I mean by I don’t care. It is either if I’m true to myself. As I called for the resignation of Jonathan, I should call for the resignation of President Buhari. With immediate effect and the government papers (media) should carry it also.

“Even Jonathan as bad as he was, he was more democratic. When he saw there was a problem, he relinquished power and he said I don’t want blood,” Gumi said.

Gumi said he had two options either which to apologise to Jonathan or to ask Buhari to resign. He said he was not left with a third option, insisting that Buhari should resign for not tackling insecurity.

“Now, I have one or two options. If I cannot tell my own brother what I have told this man, then I should take an aeroplane from Abuja to Jonathan and say forgive me for castigating you in public. Either seeking an apology or castigating the President; there is no third option,” Gumi added.

[GIST] REVEALED: New Charges Filed Against Sunday Igboho Before Beninese Court

[GIST] REVEALED: New Charges Filed Against Sunday Igboho Before Beninese Court

The Cour De’Appel De Cotonou, Benin Republic, on Monday, began the cross-examination of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, more commonly called Sunday Igboho, over his entry into the West African country allegedly through the backdoor.

Sources told SaharaReporters that the case of Igboho was now versus the Beninese government, as the accusations brought against him by the Nigerian government to demand his extradition had now been quashed by the court.

Sunday Igboho

The sources from the court added that Igboho now had to explain to the Benin Republic court why he entered the country without the necessary documents.

“Yesterday, the judges arrived at a conclusion at past 11pm and the charges levelled against him (by the Nigerian government) were dropped. Firstly, illegal supply of firearms to Nigeria, then the second accusation of causing unrest in the country and that he wanted to cause Nigeria to be divided. Those were the three charges levelled against him before but as of yesterday, they had been dropped,” one of the sources said.

“The case is now about why he came to Benin Republic illegally and why he had not obtained the papers. This is now a Benin Republic versus Igboho matter and not Nigeria versus Igboho.

“The lawyer was telling me this morning that the charges levelled against Igboho were surprising but that they would try to apply for his bail so he can go to Germany for medical care and when it is time for the next sitting, he will come from there.”

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the Nigerian government assembled at least six lawyers at the Cour De’Appel De Cotonou in its desperate bid to secure the extradition of Igboho.

SaharaReporters had stated that the lawyers, both French and English speaking, however, failed to convince the court after a 13-hour trial on Monday as to why Igboho should be extradited.

“The court session took no less than 13 hours because of frequent breaks in-between. Also, the Beninese court system is different from the system of law in Nigeria.

“Nigerian courts have an adversarial system of justice but Benin Republic has an inquisitorial system; a justice system in which the judge takes the matter on himself to inquire like an investigator, asking questions and probing the two parties,” a legal source had said.

“So, the court was actually investigating the three main allegations brought against Igboho by the Federal Government of Nigeria which claimed that Igboho was a gun runner, a terrorist and a criminal who wanted to divide Nigeria. All these could not be proven by the lawyers,” the source said.

SaharaReporters learnt that the Cour De’Appel De Cotonou had no choice than to order Igboho to remain in police custody pending further investigation.

The activist was returned to cell after a 13-hour hearing, which ended around 11:20pm on Monday.

[GIST] BREAKING: Gunmen Kill Divisional Police Officer In Imo Governor’s Community

[GIST] BREAKING: Gunmen Kill Divisional Police Officer In Imo Governor’s Community

Gunmen, alleged to be militants of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, have killed a Chief Superintendent of Police, Fatmann Dooiyor.

Dooiyor, who was the Divisional Police Officer for Omuma, Governor Hope Uzodimma’s community in the Oru East Local Government area of Imo State, was among those who tried to repel the attack by the militants.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Imo, CSP Mike Abattam, six of the gunmen were killed by the police while 11 were arrested.

Abattam said the bandits in convoy of three vehicles invaded the community but were repelled by police led by the Area Commander, ACP Benjamin Abang.

He said that the police were alerted when bandits were sighted moving in convoy into Omuma town.

Abattam said, “The tactical teams of the command immediately swung into action, ambushed and launched a surprised attack on the convoy of the bandits which resulted to the neutralisation of six of the bandits while, 11 of them were arrested to the station.

“Unfortunately, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Fatmann Dooiyor paid the supreme price.

“The teams later recovered the three vehicles abandoned by the bandits to the station which includes, two Toyota Highlander SUV vehicles with registration numbers Abia MBL 517 AT and LAGOS , JJJ 984 EL respectively and a milk colour unregistered Lexus Jeep to the station.

“Presently, the command’s tactical teams and Special forces led by ACP Evans E.Shem are combing the bush for possible arrest of the bandits that fled into the bush,” the statement added.

Suspected IPOB militants had attacked the community earlier in the year.

They had killed a security guard at the residence of Uzodinma and set the building on fire.
