An overzealous Protocol Officer attached to the Governor of Kano State Wife, Hafsat Ganduje, identified as Nuraddeen Sa'id, has threatened to take the lives of some journalists after he chased their moving vehicle almost into a ditch while trying to remove them from the First Lady's convoy.
SaharaReporters learnt that the incident happened when the Governor's wife was travelling to the Tudunwada Local Government Area of Kano State to participate in an event organised by the House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa. Hafsat Ganduje
The Correspondents' Chapel was invited to cover the programme and their vehicle was placed in front of the First Lady's vehicle, as it's the tradition to place the vehicle conveying journalists ahead of the Governor's vehicle in the convoy.
SaharaReporters learnt from witnesses that as the First Lady's convoy was moving on high speed along Kano-Zaria Express Way, the journalists overheard sharp noise of sudden brake from the protocol officer's jeep that was chasing their vehicle.
It was learnt that the action devastated the driver of the journalists who nearly fell into a nearby ditch, with the Protocol Officer shouting on them "get out".
The journalists had to park their bus to allow the heavy convoy to overtake them on top speed, while all of them tried to recover from the shock resulting from the incident.
They later decided to go on low speed far behind the First Lady's convoy, arriving Tudunwada Local Government Area almost late while the programme was rounding off.
When the team of journalists approached the Protocol Officer to enquire why he nearly caused their lives on a very high speed, he turned with a frowned face and still shouted on top of his voice, "So what? You can go to hell.”

Bandits have kidnapped a female corps member, who was newly mobilised to Kebbi State.
The victim, Iorliam Jennifer Awashima, was reportedly kidnapped along a highway in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State while travelling.
According to People's Gazette, the bandits had attacked the vehicle Awashima was travelling in.
The 29-year-old Awashima, who graduated from the English Department of Benue State University, had boarded a vehicle from Benue State to Kebbi when bandits attacked the vehicle.
Judith Benson, elder sister to the victim told the newspaper that the bandits dressed in military fatigues waylaid the 18-seater bus, conveying her sister to Kebbi State, kidnapping nine passengers including her younger sister.
“I was told by the bus driver that bandits dressed in military uniform, stopped their vehicle (18 seaters) that carried nine persons, and they thought it was military and stopped.
“Immediately they stopped, some of the gunmen rushed out from the bush, then they knew they are not military people, and the driver and one other passenger ran out.
“They left on Tuesday, and the next day, I was calling her number and no one picked until the driver picked and told us they were attacked by kidnappers.
“And, the driver said kidnappers took his phone and when my sister’s phone was ringing he thought it was the kidnappers,” she lamented.
Benson noted that the incident happened about past 6pm and, her kid sister was to spend a night in Sokoto before heading for Kebbi State.
“We have reported to the police, SSS, and the NYSC, and they all said they are working on it,” she added.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has promised to make public the outcome of the report by the Judicial Panel on Restitution for Victims of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Related Abuses and Other Matters.
Speaking on Thursday, the governor gave assurance that the state government had no hidden agenda on it, adding that whatever be the recommendation of the panel would be made public and implemented.
Sanwo-Olu made this known while speaking as a guest speaker at the 10th National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development held in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to him, all protesters arrested at the Lekki Toll Gate during the one-year commemoration of EndSARS on October 20, had been released, except for people caught with weapons
He commended the efforts of the police at the protest ground, calling on residents to continue to work with the operatives to ensure security in the state.
He said: “Exactly a year ago, today being October 21 2021, was when Lagos had massive destruction of infrastructure, iconic buildings, our transport sector, Police stations and almost every part. I feel that there is no better time than today being one year of that event, to say how difficult it has been for us as a state; to say how moving is being for us as a government and the commitment it has given us.
“As tough as those times were and as tough as they are still today; as a government, certainly we will not shy away from our responsibilities. We will take it up; we will see it as a challenge and will face it with everything that we have.
”It is important for me to mention that we set up a judicial panel after all of that and I am sure the gentlemen of the press are aware that the panel ended its sittings about three days ago and they have asked for time for them to put their reports together behind a closed door. We do not know what would be the outcome of that reports.
“We want to say publicly that upon the handover of the report, we will be making it public. We do not want to cover anything. That is not who we are. That is not what our government stands for. That is not what we believe governance is about.
“We will make full disclosure of whatever recommendations and identifications that the panel will come up with. And I want to assure all our citizens that we are not going to leave anything to chance. They have asked for time for them to be able to complete their work and we have given them the time.
“It is also important to mention that yesterday we also saw a bit of protest in Lagos and I want to inform the gentlemen of the press that everybody that was arrested by the police for one reason or the other, have all been released, except an individual that was caught with a dangerous weapon. He had cutlasses, charms and all sorts and he did confess to the police that he was there to cause mayhem.”

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended its services on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line following a deadly attack on one of its trains by bandits.
The corporation announced the suspension on Thursday, October 21, 2021 shortly after a former senator, Shehu Sani, said a train he boarded broke down after running over an explosive.
In a statement by the NRC obtained by SaharaReporters, the management said “The board and management wish to inform the general public that there was an explosion on the rail track that affected the fuel tank of the Locomotive on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line (AK10) of October 20. However the situation has been brought under control.”
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, train services have been immediately suspended for the safety of our dear passengers. Efforts are in place to restore service,"
Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, had raised the alarm, saying the attack caused by the explosive damaged the rail track during a trip on Thursday morning, and that passengers only escaped miraculously.
He also reported that “terrorists” attacked the railway with an explosive and opened fire on the train on Wednesday, October 20.

The African Action Congress (AAC) party has called for the resignation of the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed following some statements he made about the #EndSARS memorial anniversary on Wednesday.
The party also demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari should publicly apologise to those who participated in the protests, seeking justice from police brutality and bad governance last year.

According to the AAC, the National Economic Council under the leadership of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo should compensate victims of police brutality as recommended by the state panels inaugurated to investigate those allegations.
AAC disclosed these in a press statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, which was made available to SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
The statement was in reaction to the Minister of Information’s earlier statements that there were no killings at Lekki Toll Gate last year.
Nigerian youths had gathered there to protest.
The statement said, “The attention of our party, the African Action Congress (AAC) has been drawn to a statement credited to the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed which was issued in Abuja today 20/10/2021, which marks the anniversary of the grossly unfortunate Lekki shooting that claimed lives of over 50 Nigerians, left many young Nigerians permanently injured and threw many homes into a grieving mood for life.
"Rather than share consolations and seek restitution, after accepting the ignominious role it played in quelling the most organized civil disobedience in recent history, as it is expected of a government in the 21st century, the regime has shown maximum recalcitrance; such that reeks of corruption and a megalomaniac posture.
“Reading through the gaffe Lai issued as a statement, no one would argue that the sole intention of the Minister was to protect by all means necessary the face of the regime from local and international shame because it has lost out on the debate. He failed woefully.
“The description of the massacre as 'phantom' by the infamous Minister of 'misinformation' is the highest form of insensitivity and irresponsibility any government official could show at a time like this. Not even on a day when the largest demography- the youths, are remembering their loved ones who were slain for standing up for their fundamental human rights; in particular, their right to life.
“The AAC as a revolutionary party would do all that is possible not to allow history to be distorted right before our eyes."
As its demands, the party said, “We ask that the Minister withdraws his gaffe and start preparing his resignation letter, as the party would not hesitate to mobilize Nigerians far and wide to force such. Nigerians have had enough of the insults from Alhaji Lai Mohammed and his goons.
“That the National Economic Council chaired by the Vice President start without any further delay, the compensation to victims of SARS brutality as recommended by the State panels.
“Immediate arrest and open prosecution of erring SARS officers including one CSP James Nwafor who has been on the run since the protests started.
“That the Lekki Massacre Panel report should be concluded and made public in the shortest possible time by the Lagos Restitution Panel.
“That all EndSARS and Post-EndSARS protesters (over 300 of them) including political prisoners be released immediately and unconditionally. This executive rascality must not be allowed to continue in a democracy.
“An apology to be made by President Muhammadu Buhari to all Nigerians who participated in #EndSARS for the role his regime played in disrespecting the rights to associate and express opinions freely; without intimidation and violent repression, as seen one year ago.
“We would like to conclude with the position which we have always maintained, that until the Buhari regime and the exploitative system that produce and continue to breathe oxygen into all forms of brutalities, including economic brutality, are blotted out by the people, there would be no meaningful conclusion to our sufferings.”
