My Mum Said I Shouldn't Do Season 2 of Real Housewives of Lagos - Chioma Ikokwu Reveals

My Mum Said I Shouldn't Do Season 2 of Real Housewives of Lagos - Chioma Ikokwu Reveals

Nigerian businesswoman Chioma Ikokwu popularly known as Chioma Goodhair came into major prominence after appearing on the hit reality television show,The Real Housewives of Lagos.

While the show definitely gave her a lot of notoriety and a legion of new fans, the ever-stylish entrepreneur is now saying she's not sure she'll return for a second season. Because her mother doesn't want her to be part of the second season.

Speaking to Chude about how she didn't want to join the Real Housewives show initially and why her mother doesn't want her to go back for season 2, Chioma said:

When The Real Housewives of Lagos first approached me, I was like "of course not". Why would I use my hand to put myself on a pedestal like that? I didn't want to be a part of it initially. They also didn't tell me who else was going to be a part of the show so I wasn't interested. Me, I'm very big on family so my family is everything to me. I'm not married yet, I don't have kids so it's my parents and my siblings at this point. So I said [to the producers], speak to my family, see what they think, if they agree, then I'll do it. So the producers spoke to my family and somehow managed to convince them that it would be a good idea for me to get on the show. So I said, let me give it a shot, it can't kill me.

Now after watching season 1, My mum was like it's okay. You've entertained the public, you've done enough. She goes "my child it's okay, you can't". If they call for season 2, run away. You can't. She was like "what is this? Somebody wants to beat you, why?" My mum, she can't deal. Cuz I'm their child. And I'm human. And they know that. I still have blood running through my veins. I'm a very strong person. I'm one of the strongest people you will ever meet. In all of that my calmness is an unparalleled strength which I thank God for, but I'm still human and they know. It's not just a conducive environment. It's not healthy. No matter who you are. You're communicating with a grown adult in a civilized manner and the person gets up they want to beat you, like what is that? It's not like we're even in a heated argument and you want to fight. Even some stuff you don't see on camera, there is even more violence behind the camera. It's ridiculous. Did I sign up for violence?

Would I do another season? I don't know yet. Was I completely happy with how things ended in the last season, clearly not. Would I do another season? I think it would depend on a lot of factors. A lot of things would need to be different for me to lend myself to that kind of environment again. Like the violence issue, I don't want to walk into a set and everyday I walk in there is a risk of me being beaten up by an uncouth person. And so many other things which I can't necessarily discuss. So if all those things are fixed and corrected, possibly. But as it stands, things are not honkey-dorey at the moment.

They kept taking me to one place or the other. They even took me to a public yard where they were usually too many people ready to use the toilet at once.

I’m comfortably where I’m living now, I have someone to cook my food and wash my clothes. I’m not in a hurry to get married. Marriage is not my problem now.

I thank my fans especially those sending money to my account. I pray for strength so they can continue to help me. I am not a man for one I am a man for all.

Aside that comfortable accommodation I have now. I need a plot of land in Abakpa.”
